Welcome to the New Year from the SDBCC

As we enter a new year, the SDBCC begins a renewed chapter of focus and momentum. We are currently refreshing our website and aligning our strategy for the year ahead. Our 2026 event schedule will be available on February 1st, featuring new and dynamic programs & services designed to support and advance minority business owners across the state.

In the interim, we pause to honor and commemorate the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His vision continues to guide our work and reinforces our commitment to equity, opportunity, and economic empowerment.

We look forward to sharing what’s ahead and continuing this work together. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we move forward with purpose.

Rainbow Amid Clouds

We live in a time of great tension and great possibility. A time when progress is challenged, when equity is debated instead of guaranteed, and when justice too often feels conditional. Yet it is also a time when our collective voice, our economic power, and our moral clarity can shape the future in ways Dr. King envisioned but never lived to see.

Dr. King understood that civil rights and economic justice are inseparable. He knew that dignity is hollow without opportunity, and that freedom must be fortified by access to capital, to contracts, to ownership, and to influence. That truth sits at the very heart of our mission at the SDBCC.

His legacy calls us not just to remember, but to build.

  • To build businesses that create jobs.

  • To build institutions that open doors.

  • To build communities where prosperity is shared, not siloed.

  • To build courage when silence feels safer.

In honoring Dr. King, we recommit ourselves to the work that is still unfinished. We recommit to being bold in boardrooms, resilient in the face of barriers, and unified in purpose. We recommit to ensuring that the dream is not only spoken but economically sustained for generations to come.

Let us be clear: This is not the season for complacency. This is the season for leadership. This is the season for action. This is the season to turn legacy into leverage.

May we honor Dr. King not only with our words today, but with our work tomorrow.

Live the Dream. Be the Legacy.
